Traditional therapeutic and non-therapeutic techniques will be discussed in detail. Additional techniques, such as assertive communication, limit-setting, and conflict resolution will be presented. Emphasis will be given to nurse behaviors that promote therapeutic communication, as well as potential barriers to effective communication. Many examples of therapeutic communication will be presented throughout.
